As we all know to much upper body muscle can and will effect your performance on the bike.
I do some upper body strength training about 3 times per week and at this stage it hasn’t effected my cycling at all.
If i were to add to much upper body muscle then yes it would start to have an impact on how efficient i am on the bike, so too much muscle is a bad thing for cyclists.
When i work out my sessions are only for about 30-45 minutes, i’m not about body building and having big muscles mine is more strength training.
You can combine some weights with your cycling if you get into a good routine and don’t over do it.
Muscle is heavy so too much of it especially on the upper body where it’s not needed for cycling it will slow you down especially on hills.
You should consult your Doctor before doing any strenuous exercise or workout, if you have any dizziness or pain you should stop immediately, you do this workout at your own risk. Please be reminded i am not a personal trainer this is just my workout routine you should consult a personal trainer to obtain a proper workout for what you want to achieve.
