The pronator and supinator muscles are responsible for rotating your hand and wrist and any weakness there can make your wrists give in and drop the weight. Before you got through with the set of the muscle you targeted!
Training them is also important for anyone into sports that make use of them: baseball, golf, rock climbing and more.
